GENNERAL TIPS WHEN TAKING AN IELTS TEST
As you know, there are four modules in IELTS test including listening, reading, speaking, and writing. Before doing these parts, you should know how to do them all. The ways you start are so important to help you get good scores. At first, you will take the listening test with forty items. That accounts for thirty minutes. Before listening, you should read the questions and predict what kind of information you need. For multiple-choice questions, you will listen out for synonyms for words and phrases in the options, the same idea expressed using different parts of speech, and specific information such as dates or numbers. Secondly, you will take the reading part with forty items also. Before looking at the questions, it is good for you to quickly skim the text to get a general idea of what it is saying and do not worry about the new words. In order to find the answers to the questions, you have to carefully scan by looking at for key words or ideas that are connected to the question. Thirly, you will take the speaking module. You may need a few seconds to think before you speak. How you say something can be as important as what you say. It is important to give full responses by extending your answers. To buy time, you had better to use phrases like “well, let me think about that for a moment”, “that is an interesting question!”, or some other language filters such as “well…”, “mmm…”, or “it is difficult to say, but….” So as to make you sound more natural, you should use words and expressions like “actually”, “well”, “it is depend”, “in fact”, “I guess”, etc. In addition, to join your ideas, it is necessary to use words like “also, so, and so on”. The final part in your test is the writing. In this task, you should pay attention to grammatical range and accuracy. You should give examples as well as supporting ideas to support your answers. To sum up this writing, it is very important to remember how you will do in your test. That can help you quickly finish the test in a limited time.
